Kyoto/London − Kyocera, a leading global manufacturer of fineceramics components, has decided to consolidate its European fineceramics business. In doing so, the fineceramics units as well as the production sites in Mannheim and Selb will be combined in an independent company under the roof of KYOCERA Europe GmbH. In addition, the existing high-turnover fineceramics business of KYOCERA Europe GmbH will also be integrated into this new company. The company will carry the name KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH. Dr. Carsten Russner will be appointed President who brings along many years of expertise in fineceramics technologies. This is the next step in the company's longstanding growth strategy.
The background of the restructuring is the growing European sales market for fineceramics components. Through the acquisition of H.C. Starck Ceramics GmbH, a Germany-based company specializing in non-oxide fineceramics components, Kyocera gained its first production facility in Germany in 2019. The acquisition of the ceramic operation of Friatec GmbH, a manufacturer of ceramic and plastic components, in the same year added a second production site. Kyocera has thus been able to expand its product line-up with oxide and metallized ceramic components in Europe.
The consolidation is the next crucial step in Kyocera’s growth strategy
As demand continues to rise, Kyocera is now taking the next major step by consolidating all fineceramics business activities into KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH, one legal entity with 2 production sites in Mannheim and Selb and 5 sales offices in Esslingen, Neuss, Mannheim, Selb and Stockholm. The company will be headquartered in Mannheim.
The consolidation brings advantages
The consolidation of Kyocera’s European fineceramics business brings along lots of benefits for all customers, such as:
- Higher focus on customer relationship and supply chain from Europe for European customers
- Improved cooperation with R&D, Product and Application development teams based in Europe
- Highly motivated and dedicated sales team with more than 60 professionals and more focused responsibilities
Quote: Dr. Carsten Russner: “Kyocera was already a successful manufacturer of fineceramics components in Japan when, in 1971, the company entered the German market. We are proud to expand our international business and strengthen our presence in Europe with this monumental step towards internationality and our client’s focus markets.”
Since its founding in Japan in 1959, Kyocera has provided fineceramics components for a wide range of markets, including industrial machinery, information devices, medical devices, and environmental preservation / renewable energy equipment. The company has supported various industries by utilizing technologies cultivated through its research, development, and production of fineceramics.
As first step towards this integration present KYOCERA Fineceramics Solutions GmbH will be renamed to the new KYOCERA Fineceramics Europe GmbH within the next weeks.
